1. Who we are
Pass Life in the UK Test 2026 is a study aid for the Life in the UK citizenship test: practice questions, mock exams, study chapters and progress tracking. It is published by ANECDOTE CREATIVE LIMITED. For anything about your data, contact [email protected].
2. What we collect, and when
Without an account, your study data stays on your device. The app works fully offline and your progress lives in the app's own storage. There is no advertising, no third-party analytics or tracking service, no data sold or shared, and the app reads nothing from your device beyond its own storage — no location, no contacts, no files.
We do record anonymous usage events so we can see where the app confuses people — for example how far into a mock exam people get before giving up. These events say what happened, never who did it: a screen or question number, a score, whether something was tapped. They contain no name, no email, and nothing you typed.
They are grouped by a random ID that exists only in memory for the length of a single visit. Nothing is stored on your device for this — no cookie, no identifier — so the ID is gone when you close the tab or the app, and two visits by the same person cannot be connected. That is also why you are not asked to accept cookies: there are none to accept. If you are signed in, events from that visit are linked to your account so we can tell a returning learner from a new one.
Creating an account is optional and only exists to sync your progress across devices. If you create one, we collect:
- Your email address — used only to send sign-in codes (there are no passwords) and to identify your account.
- Your learning progress, synced as one record: the first name you entered in the app, your test date, daily goal, exam history (scores and dates), per-question answer statistics, starred questions, reading progress and study streak.
- A device record, so your account can sync to three devices and you can sign one out remotely. It holds a random ID we generate, a short label such as "Chrome on Windows" or your phone's own name, which platform it is, and when it was last used. It never contains your full browser user-agent, your IP address or your location.
The device ID is the one thing we store on your device, and only once you sign in — never before. It exists so the three-device limit can work at all and so you can see and manage your own devices; it is never attached to the usage events above, and it is not used for advertising, profiling or tracking you between websites. If you never make an account, nothing is written to your device and the paragraph above still describes everything we hold.
3. Why we collect it
- To sync your progress across your devices (consent — you choose to create the account).
- To keep an account to the number of devices it is sold with (two, or three with Premium), and to let you sign a lost or shared device out (performance of our contract with you).
- To send you one-time sign-in codes by email.
- To compute aggregate, anonymous question-difficulty statistics such as "X% of users got this wrong" (legitimate interest).
- To understand how the app is used in aggregate, so we can fix the parts that lose people (legitimate interest). See section 2 — these events are not linked to a device or to you unless you are signed in.
4. Where your data lives and how it's protected
Account data is stored with Supabase (hosted Postgres), acting as our data processor. Every user's record is protected by row-level security, meaning each account can only ever read and write its own data. All transfer happens over HTTPS.
5. Retention and deletion
- Reset learning history (in the app, on the You tab) wipes your progress on the device and in the cloud. One exception, stated honestly: a copy of your per-question answer statistics is kept in an archive, linked to your account id, used solely to compute the aggregate question-difficulty statistics above. It is never shown to other users in any identifiable form.
- Full account deletion removes your email and all your data, including the archived statistics. See how to delete your account.
- Signing out deletes nothing; your data waits for your return. Signing a device out — from that device or remotely from another — removes its device record; nothing else about it is kept.
6. Your rights
UK GDPR / GDPR applies. You can ask for access to your data, a copy of it (export), correction, or deletion at any time — email [email protected] from the address you signed up with, and we'll act on it promptly.
7. Children
The app is for adults applying for UK settlement or citizenship and is not directed at children under 13.
8. Changes to this policy
If the app starts doing anything different with data, this policy will be updated first and the effective date at the top will change. This page is the canonical, current version.
