Terms and Conditions
These terms are the agreement between you and ANECDOTE CREATIVE LIMITED ("we", "us") for your use of Pass Life in the UK Test 2026 — the website at passlifeintheuktest.com and the mobile app of the same name (together, "the app"). By using the app you accept them. If you do not, please stop using it.
Two other pages form part of this agreement and are worth reading alongside it: our Refund & Cancellation Terms (what you are buying, and how to get your money back) and our Privacy Policy (what we do with your data).
1. What this app is — and what it is not
The app is an independent study aid for the Life in the UK test. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Home Office, UK Visas and Immigration, or any UK government department, and it is not the official test. The official handbook, the official practice material and the booking service are published by the government at gov.uk/life-in-the-uk-test.
Our questions, explanations and study chapters are written by us to cover the same syllabus as the official handbook. They are not copies of the real test questions, which are not published by anyone.
We work hard to keep the content accurate and current, but we cannot promise you will pass, and the app is not legal or immigration advice. Where anything here disagrees with the official government material, the official material is right and we would be glad to hear about it — see section 10.
2. Who can use it
You must be 13 or older to use the app and 18 or older to buy Premium. The app is aimed at adults preparing for UK settlement or citizenship.
3. Your account
You can use the free tier without an account. An account exists so your progress syncs across your devices, and so Premium can follow you rather than a phone.
- There are no passwords. We email a one-time six-digit code, so whoever can read your email can get into your account — keep that inbox secure and tell us if you think someone else has been in it.
- An account is for one person and cannot be transferred. Please do not share your sign-in codes, let other people use your Premium access, or sell, rent, gift or advertise your account (or a place on it) to anyone. An account is personal to you: it cannot be sold, given away or passed on, including a lifetime one.
- The device limit is there to make that workable, not to police you. Signing in on more devices than your plan allows, or a pattern of use that could not be one person studying — sign-ins from many places at once, an account being handed round a group — lets us ask you about it and, if it continues, apply the remedies in section 5.
- An account syncs to two devices, or three with Premium. When you sign in on one more than that, the app offers to sign out the one you have not used for the longest so you can carry on; you can also sign a device out at any time from Profile → Devices. Nothing is deleted when a device is signed out — your progress stays on that device and in your account.
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time. See how to delete your account.
4. Premium, prices and payment
The core of the app is free. Premium unlocks the full study chapters, all mock exams, unlimited practice, unlimited starred questions and the complete Final Sprint summary.
Premium is a licence to use the app, not a sale of the content, and it is attached to your account rather than to a device. Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. Payments on the website are taken by Stripe; purchases made inside the Android app are taken by Google Play. We never see or store your card details.
Your cancellation right, our refund promise and how to cancel a subscription are all set out in the Refund & Cancellation Terms, which apply in full and are more generous than the law requires. In short: tell us within 14 days of paying and we refund you, no questions asked.
We may change prices, but never for something you have already bought: a lifetime purchase stays yours, and a subscription keeps its price for the period you have paid for. We will tell you before a price change affects a renewal.
What "lifetime" means. A lifetime purchase is a one-off payment for access to this app on your own account for as long as we run it — it is the app's lifetime, not a guarantee of any particular number of years, and section 9 says what happens if we close the app down. It is one person's access, it is not transferable, and it does not become a licence to supply the app to other people.
5. What you may and may not do
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own study. Please do not:
- copy, scrape, bulk-download, republish or resell our questions, explanations, study chapters or artwork;
- share, sell, rent, gift, advertise or otherwise pass on access to your account, your sign-in codes or your Premium — including reselling a lifetime account, or running one account for a family, a class, a group of friends or customers;
- open more than one account in order to get round a limit, a free tier or a refund;
- reverse-engineer the app, or attack, overload or probe our systems;
- use the app for anything unlawful, or pretend it is official government material.
If you break these rules in a serious or repeated way we may suspend or close your account. We will normally warn you first and give you a chance to put it right, unless the breach is fraud, resale, or an attack on our systems. Where suspension or closure costs you Premium you have already paid for, we will refund the unused part — but not where the breach was fraud, resale or sharing of the account, or an attack on our systems, and not the part of a lifetime purchase we cannot sensibly apportion.
We would much rather solve this than enforce it: if several people want to study together, email us and we will sort out separate accounts.
6. Our content and your content
The questions, explanations, chapters, design and code are ours (or our licensors') and stay ours. The material you put in — your name, test date, answers, progress, and any bug report or feedback you send — stays yours. By sending us feedback or a bug report you allow us to act on it and to improve the app with it, at no charge and without any obligation to you.
7. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the app available and working, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free — it depends on services and networks outside our control, and it needs occasional maintenance. We may add, change or remove features as the app develops. If we ever withdraw something central that you paid for and cannot offer a fair replacement, you can ask us for a proportionate refund.
Your progress is stored on your device as well as in your account. Please keep in mind that no online service is a backup of last resort.
8. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits your legal rights as a consumer, and nothing excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described; if it is not, you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund.
Beyond that, we are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you started using the app — including, in particular, the outcome of your Life in the UK test, an immigration or citizenship decision, or any fee you paid to a third party. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
The app is for personal study. If you use it for business purposes, the consumer protections above do not apply to you.
9. Ending this agreement
You can stop using the app whenever you like, cancel a subscription (see the Refund Terms) and delete your account. We may end this agreement by closing the app down, in which case we will give reasonable notice and refund the unused part of anything you have paid.
10. Complaints, changes and the law
Email [email protected] with any complaint, or with anything you think is wrong in the content — we read every message and would far rather fix a question than have you sit an exam on it.
We may update these terms; the effective date at the top will change and this page is always the current version. The terms that apply to a purchase are the ones published on the day you paid. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your own country's courts, and you keep the protection of any mandatory consumer law where you live.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
